The C. Jordan Vail Spirit of Philanthropy Award is presented by the Community Foundation for the Greater Capital Region during the annual Celebration of Philanthropy in recognition of community members who have demonstrated outstanding leadership and extraordinary commitment to preserving and enhancing the quality of life in the greater Capital Region.
The McCarthy Charities is a private family foundation dedicated to improving the quality of life in Rensselaer County, especially in education, social services and housing. It is operated today by a Board of Directors composed of Peter McCarthy’s direct descendants and recently celebrated 100 years of giving. The family’s commitment to giving back to the community that gave them so much is as devout today as it was in the early 1900’s.
The McCarthy Charities has been a stalwart support for our neighbors in need and continues to invest in organizations which will enrich and educate our community for generations to come.
