Standish Family Fund

application process

Mission
The Standish Family Fund, a Donor Advised Fund of The Community Foundation for the Greater Capital Region, works to improve education and the lives of our youth in the New York State Capital Region.  The Capital Region is defined as the area encompassing Albany, Schenectady, Saratoga and Rensselaer counties

Eligibility
To qualify for a grant, the applicant must be a certified U.S. non-profit tax-exempt organization as designated by Internal Revenue Code 501 (c) (3), whose work falls within the area outlined above.

The Standish Family Fund may make challenge grants and its grants may be used as matches for other foundations’ grants.  Capital campaigns and requests for capital expenditures are accepted.  The Standish Family Fund will not give to annual fund drives.  The Fund will not give to the same organization in consecutive years, but will consider gifts spread over a specific number of years when appropriate.  The Standish Family Fund, as a Donor Advised Fund of The Community Foundation for the Greater Capital Region, does not give to individuals.

Proposals
In June 2013, a Pre-Application Questionnaire will be available at: http://www.cfgcr.org/upcominggrantdeadlines.php
Pre-Application Questionnaires are due July 25th. If the Pre-Application Questionnaire is accepted, a formal proposal will be requested by the Fund. Please note that the Pre-Application Questionnaire is the only information the Trustees will have to determine if an organization receives a formal application, so please be thorough.

Review Process
Pre-Application proposals received by July 25th will be reviewed and decided on in the month of September. Applicants are notified by email of the decision made by The Community Foundation for the Greater Capital Region’s Board of Directors, taking into consideration the advisors’ recommendations. Grants are typically awarded for a one-year project, and the grants range between $1,000 and $30,000

Post-Grant Requirements
The Community Foundation for the Greater Capital Region’s Standish Family Fund requires all grant recipients to submit a six-month progress report and an annual financial report accounting for grant disbursements.
