General Information

The specific funding priorities of The William and Mary Barnet Foundation are interfaith ventures and other programs that reduce discrimination within the greater Capital Region. As a supporting organization, The William and Mary Barnet Foundation supports the mission of the Community Foundation for the Capital Region.
Pre-Application Check List
Potential applicants should consider the following:
- Is the applicant organization’s mission related to fostering or preserving interfaith institutions and/or other programs that reduce discrimination within the greater Capital Region?
- Is the applicant organization designated as non-profit by Internal Revenue Code 501(c)(3)?
- Is the applicant organization governed by an active board of directors?
- Is a formal audit of the organization’s financial information conducted annually?
Application Submission
A letter of inquiry is required. If the letter of inquiry is accepted, an application form will be forwarded to you. Please mail application proposal, signed by the chief executive officer or board president, and attachments to:

Review Process
Staff will conduct an initial review of the proposal. Applicants may be contacted for additional information. Applications not conforming to the above guidelines will be asked to resubmit. The Foundation will review and discuss all complete applications. Site visits to applicant organizations with which the trustees are unfamiliar are likely. Applicants will be notified in writing of the trustees’ decisions.
Time Line
Letters of inquiry are accepted throughout the year. Proposals received by May 31st will be reviewed and decided upon by June 30th. Proposals received by September 30th will be decided upon by November 30th. Occasionally, complex applications will require additional time to review. Applicants will be kept informed of their proposal’s progress.
Post Grant Requirements
Grant recipients are required to submit a written evaluation of the project after the first six months and within 60 days of the conclusion of the grant period. In the case of multi-year grants, more frequent reporting may be required. Site visits by the trustees of The William and Mary Barnet Foundation or their designated representatives will be conducted at the discretion of the trustees during the course of the grant period.
